Jase Burley
The fantastic bass machine and easily the clumsiest man alive. Capable
of breaking or losing everything he gets hold of. 6ft 4 of uncoordinated
gurning mayhem, and sings like an angel too.

Pigfishs
influences are obvious. Brought up as kids on a diet of The Ramones,
S.L.F and the Buzzcocks they were never going to churn out anything
else but super charged anthemic punk rock.. In fact, the chance
of seeing them in anything other than jeans and grubby t shirt is
pretty remote. Current and past reviews of have likened Pigfish
to The Wildhearts and Rancid. These are rough guides but I spose
they give you a general feel for what the bands sounds like.
The bands tight
and lively live performances are based on years of playing gigs
and refusing to act their age !. Some might say its retro
punk, but that goes no where near to doing it justice and generally
goes to highlight the gaps in peoples record collections. Pigfish
are an english sounding punk rock band who kick out short, sharp
tunes with powerful, chugging guitars and vocal tunes that drag
you in, beat you up then spit you out, wanting more.
Early 98 saw
Pigfish come to the attention of Delta Loop records, a day in the
studio resulted in the demo tracks now found on Radio Delta,
a split 10 track EP with General Kingpin. Radio Delta
was not without its difficulties. Pigfish recorded a version
of the Raggity track my baby stole my Ramones Lps
and titled it Ramones Lps. In theory there was
nowt wrong with this as Russ had written the tune and stuff for
it. The resulting war of words is well documented, now settled and
best forgotten. Pigfish continued to gig and October 98 saw them
enter M.M.is studios to record Creosote the baby.
Released in
April 99 this saw the band support the Damned and gain fantastic
reviews across the board with Fanzines and the nationals. Pigfish
it appeared, had done something right for a change. 1999 was taken
up with gigs, gigs and more gigs. The band then had the bright idea
of covering Sailors A Glass of Champagne. Basically,
a sound idea and a great version to boot. However, the label at
the time managed, yet again to salvage defeat from the jaws of victory.
The recording quality was pretty duff as the band had to pay at
short notice for the recording, and the company didnt exactly
excel themselves in promoting it. Nah, they did fuck all !.
With this major
corporate fuck up behind them and not content with having produced
a stunning debut album Pigfish hit the studio again in Jan 2000,
this time with Paul Bag Siddens at the controls. Three weeks later
they emerged with the reverend James, an 8 track Ep. Then followed
a change of label to Iron Man.
Most of 2000
has not really seen much of Pigfish whilst the Rev James did the
promo rounds, earning 4/5 in Kerrang and 7/10 in metal hammer. However,
12 long, slow months followed whilst Mark at Iron Man tried to find
distribution for the EP. Finally a deal was struck with Universal
and the reverend james hit the shops in April 2001. Loads of gigs
followed and more are planned, with supports done with S.L.F and
gigs lined up for Scooter clubs throught the UK, 2001 and beyond
is going to be busy.
